Menai Morning (NC 435)

Menai Morning has been painted using transparent and opaque layers of acrylic paint. The aim was to capture the stillness of an early morning view of the Menai Straits from Bangor, Wales, using simplicity of colour and tone to convey a chilly autumnal day. I remember the rather ornate gates of nearby Bangor pier being covered in Halloween masks during my stay there (primarily visiting the city for my daughter to attend their University open day but she decided against studying at Bangor in the end).
