August Morning, Dovedale, and the famous stepping stones on a sunlit morning in late summer with Thorpe Cloud as a backdrop. I was inspired by the way the sun lit the foreground area in contrast with Thorpe Cloud covered by cloud shadows. The Alder trees on the left have lost most of their branches compared to previous versions that I’ve painted of Dovedale over many years.
