I painted this scene on site, looking up to the grit stone rock outcrop at Robin Hood’s Stride, Derbyshire, on a ‘warm’ day in July (2016) – only to find the ‘cool’ breeze that came through the gap in the wall behind me eventually left me feeling chilled to the bone by the time this picture was completed!
