Hills of the Upper Dove Valley with autumn tints beginning to appear in the trees. This original oil on canvas sketch painting features ‘Hitter Hill’ and ‘High Wheeldon’. They are part of a long list of similar limestone peaks that make up the Derbyshire side of the River Dove, Staffordshire being on the opposite side. A great location for sketching and painting plein air, the peaks of Chrome and Parkhouse Hills are further upstream and have featured in many of my previous paintings of the area which I love.
