Captured in oil paint on canvas, Approaching Storm, Stanage Edge, was painted in my studio following a walk my wife and I undertook during the first major autumn storm of 2025. Although the weather was very severe it was also very inspiring due to the shafts of sunlight shining through the gaps of heavy cloud cover. Despite the gale force winds that were blowing from the west, I believe I managed to get a good impression of the conditions whilst there with the aim of conveying these especially in the sky area of the image.
