Woodland Shadows (NC 440)

Woodland Shadows has been painted using washes of semi-opaque acrylic colours on stretched canvas. It is a scene in Bradley Wood close to our home, a beautiful area of woodland that was given to the folk of Ashbourne for perpetuity by a local industrialist in the last century as a natural recreation space. There are three paths that pass through mostly deciduous trees such as pedunculate oak, beech, birch, sweet chestnut, rowan and holly with areas of Scots and Corsican pine trees. I really enjoy walking through the trees with our dog ‘Star’ and often stop to just look at the trees and sometimes sketch them if I have the time. My oil painting ‘Scots Pines in Bradley Wood‘ was painted in situ.
