Derwent Water, Cumbria, set in the centre of the beautiful Lake District National Park. This oil painting was taken from sketches I completed while staying at ‘Appletree Guest House’ in Keswick and shows the wonderful view from the front window. It looks as though I was inspired to use my favourite complimentary colour combo (blue/orange) in this painting. Derwent Water is surrounded by amazing peaks such as ‘Cat Bells’, ‘Skiddaw’, ‘Walla Crag’ and ‘Blencathra’. An inspiring area of the UK that I would love to visit more often and attempt to capture the beauty of the scenery in paint under the open sky. ‘Castlerigg‘ stone circle is near to Keswick and worth exploring.
