Fishermen’s Rest, Newlyn, Cornwall (NC 34)

This building caught my eye in its relation to the old Newlyn harbour (the last port of call, to take on board fresh water, before the Pilgrim Father’s set set to N. America in 1620) and thought about the people who had used it for social reasons. The shapes and forms of all wooden boats have always interested me and I enjoyed drawing the ones in this picture – painted in my studio from my own photographs and sketches.
